Week Two

I'm not sure when Omeed and I became intimate, and I'm not sure what started it, but I think we're now classified as Lovers, I don't know what other type of relationship you can have with a man given our situation. Periodic sex partners?

We sneak away during our free time when we're sure no one had noticed us, to “relieve stress” we'll call it. I thought we were being so clever, but Min questioned me almost immediately when we were alone. She's a good girl, be it a bit of a princess.

She came to me as soon as I woke up today, her eyes still red from sobbing over her monkey and made me promise that I make her cat Bianca well again. The poor thing has been out for almost a full day now. We're already short on medicine as it is, so I'm going to have to do my best without using it.

Thankfully Bianca survived and it up walking around now, maybe Min will start smiling again?

Omeed on the other hand is still in bed resting, our relationship, if you can really call it that, was mean to be just for fun, but I'm worrying more and more the longer he stays in bed. I'm too my breaking point, but I can tell I'm not the only one though.... we just need to hang on for a little longer and I'm sure that things will start to turn around.

Min's crying again, only this time because the stove she was trying to build collapsed. She's mumbling to herself as she works, I can't understand what she's saying, but I'm sure it's nothing good. I can tell by the tone of her voice.

Just got to keep it together a little longer.

Or not.

Frag.

I was carrying back some wood to build some more beds and a came across Min strangling a turkey with her tiny manicured hands. I paused in spite of myself, it was horrifying, but I couldn't look away. She kept yelling repeatedly as she shook the turkey until it's neck snapped. Then, as if it could get any worse, she opened her mouth as wide as she could and chomped down into the bird's feathery body. She yanked her head back, tearing feathers and flesh out with her teeth before dipping her blood-covered mouth back into the gash she had made and tearing at the flesh again.

My heart slammed sporadically against my chest as I watched this young sweet girl turn into a complete animal in front of my eyes. I felt my stomach role and clench painfully, bring me back to my senses. The last thing I needed right now was to throw up stomach bile everywhere. I hurried past Min, forcing my eyes to stay a head of me as I tried my damnedest to not vomit at the sound of bones snapping behind me.

Just got to--

I CAN'T BELIEVE BULL LOCKED ME OUT OF THE COLONY. WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?!

I'LL KILL HIM.

I'LL KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM.

I'LL SHOOT THEM AND WATCH THEIR BRAINS SPLATTER ALL OVER THE GROUND!

NO.

THAT'S TOO GOOD FOR THEM

THEY MUST SUFFER

SUFFER LIKE I HAVE

ALWAYS CLEANING UP AFTER THEM

THEY WOULD DIE WITHOUT ME

DIE

DIE

DIE!

WELL NOW THEY'RE GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF ME!

--

The potatoes are ready to harvest, finally we have some food. I finished the wood stove and we're now going to be able to actually make some meals.

I better check on Omeed again, and fee--

Passed out for a bit there...

Frag I'm tired, and hungry.

Thank goodness for potatoes.

Omeed is finally up and about, he said he was full of energy so he was going to play Horse Shoes for a bit. That's good, I'm glad he's feeling better. Me though, I need some sleep.

I hope Min is alright, I saw her shirt in the hallway and Bull said that he saw her wandering around outside naked. I asked him why he didn't pull her inside, but he just raised his hands in mock surrender and mumbled something about her being covered in blood.

He seemed to be acting a little wary of me. I wonder why?

--

Omeed found Min this morning, she was about 20 meters from the colony, naked and passed out in the middle of a field. He carried her in right away and put her in the medical bed we have. The wounds on her torso and right arm are severely infected. Bull said that he treated her, but he obviously didn't do a good job.

She's running a fever and mumbling in her sleep. Fever dreams tend to be the worst type of nightmare.

I tired. Oh Frag I tired.

I tired so hard, but I couldn't do anything to save her.

She was so young. In her prime.

She was just a baby.

Oh Frag... I had a niece her age.

She opened her eyes just she rattled her last breath and smiled at me. It was so peaceful, how could she have looked so peaceful. I'm sorry Min, I'm so sorry I couldn't save you.

Blevins dug you a grave Min, I'm going to bury you myself, after I get you all cleaned up and dress properly. I know you wouldn't be able to stand being seen in this state.

Frag, I'm so sorry Princess.

It's not the best grave Princess, but I'll get Bull to plant you some flowers, I know how much you like pretty things. I remember you telling me Daylilies were your favourite, I'll get him to plant you some of those.

I have to stay busy now, if I don't, I'll go crazy.

I know, I'll build.

There's a lot of things we need built around here. I'll start with the dining chairs, not the most important thing we need built, but I know you wouldn't want me to leave your project half done Min, so I'll do it for you.

No one knows how to act around me now, since I let you die...

Not even Omeed knows how to comfort me. I need your smile and your chatter Princess. I just want someone to hug me and tell me everything is going to be okay. I just want someone to hold me.

Princess, are you full and healthy where you are?

You're not in pain anymore are you?

I can't sleep because I'm just full of questions. Omeed is in the bed across the room from me, it's a small room Princess, you wouldn't have liked it. I'm sure you're putting on a show wherever you are. Don't worry, I'll take care of Bianca.

I'll take care of her. Better than I took care of you Princess. I'm sorry.

--

We heard a crash early this morning, Omeed went to go investigate. We were surprised to see him coming back with an old man slung over his back. You would have been disgusted Princess, I can see you face now, contorted in confusion and contempt at this man's hair. You can probably see it from wherever you are... don't laugh at his spiked Mohawk Princess, that's not very nice.

Omeed dragged him into the small room he and I were sleeping in, I guess we finally get to use one of these rooms for what they were meant for.

Or not.

Omeed was talking to Alaska for only an hour and convinced him to join our little congregation. Maybe it was because delirious, I mean, the man did pass out almost right as Omeed left the room, he had to rush back and move Alaska to the medical bed.

Princess, I'm going to try to show Omeed that I'm getting better, I made us a double bed. I need him right now Min. I'm not trying to forget you, I would never. Hopefully being close to someone will help me feel better. Just some physical contact, you know?

The rain keeps making the solar panels short circuit, the second one just went out as I was tending to Alaska's wounds. I heard the explosion from the room. I'll have to wait until the rain stops to fix it, because there's no use fixing it just so it can break again.

I have no opinion of this man yet, but I get an uneasy feeling when I'm around him. I felt him leering at me whenever I had my back turned. It's a strange feeling I tell you, it feels like prickles between your shoulder blades. Rather unsettling really.

I feel bad for Blevins, she has to share a room with him for the time being. We should make sure to hurry and dig out a room for her as soon as we can tomorrow. I don't think this guy would have even liked you Princess, he seems to hate all women. I can picture you making a joke about him, don't do that Princess, it's not nice.

I'm glad I made this bed, being close to someone is really helping. I feel more at ease, surprisingly enough. Omeed likes it too, he apologised for being so distant after I let you die. He said he wasn't sure how to comfort me.

I missed you Princess, but I have to keep moving forward if I'm going to survive down here.

Week One

I scrambled out of my crashed escape pod and stood on shaky legs; me and three other survivors of the Aura Terminal have landed in a temperate forest forest among a cluster of small mountains. I glance at the personal butler on my wrist and see that, according to the date log it was apparently the 6th of winter on whatever planet we had landed on. Luckily it was only 10 degrees Celsius, a little chilly with the wind, but the mountains blocked most of it.

I had been in ciro in what felt like only a couple hours, but in reality had been 53 years, nine years more than I had actually been alive. I wondered for a moment what had changed in the universe, but realized it didn't matter now, because I was stuck on a planet, in the middle of nowhere, with no visible signs of civilization anywhere close by.

I notice I'm one of the older (physically) of the four of us; Bull being (physically) older than me by only six years, and Omeed being younger than me by seven years. The youngest of the four of us is a 15 year old Korean girl named Kim Min-Young, “Min” being her stage name... Apparently she was some sort of teen pop idol back on Terra over 700 years ago. Min seemed rather upset when we didn't know who she was, and proceeded to sulk and mumble to her pets in Korean.

How she got a cat and a monkey down to this world is beyond me, I'm guessing they were in ciro with her.

--

Min's apparent celebrity status from before she was in cirosleep excuse her from doing any “dumb labour” she calls it, so no cleaning or hauling. Those are are things she's too delicate for, her words, not mine. She's not too delicate to construct steels walls at least, so there's that...

We started by building some solar panels out of the scraps from the escape pods and steel we mined out while digging into the side of one of the mountains. We don't know what or who is living on this world, so we figured digging ourselves a well-fortified cave was the best.

Unfortunately, Omeed stopped digging out where our rooms where meant to be and started working on the battery room halfway through, so we had to sleep outside and on the ground tonight. One night won't kill us... well, it might kill the Pop Princess...

--

At some point in time the day before we lost Bull, apparently he had found a clearing on the other side of the mountain and started to dig through. I honestly thought he had gotten eaten by something. He nearly made Omeed shart himself when he bust through the other side of the wall he was digging. I heard a shriek echo out from depths of the cavern, and at first thought it was Min... but nope... it was Omeed. I wish I would have been there to see his face.

I also discovered that Bull planted a bunch of corn, potatoes and healroot on the other side of the mountain, so that's really good, now we just have to wall in the other side, and get some defences up... last thing we need is someone raiding us from behind and burning our crops.

Mining is taking a lot longer than originally thought... we had to sleep outside on the ground again. At least Min and I did, Omeed and Bull slept among the rocks and rubble of the cave. Frag we need to build beds.

--

Bull ended up finding a natural room inside the cave today, which is great because now work will hopefully go a lot faster. Unfortunately we found that the natural room, also had a natural sky light, and while that would be a welcome feature in a house (with a glass ceiling), it's not exactly a good design choice for a colony on a potentially hostile Rim World.

Maybe when we know for sure we won't die anytime soon.

We got some visitors from the Purple Hill People today, Omeed and I were a little apprehensive when they first showed up. Out of nowhere I might add. They said they wanted to trade, but when Min asked them about it- I do have to hand it to the Pop Princess, she's pretty diplomatic, I guess that comes from being the spot light for most of her teen years- they didn't want anything we had to offer, we don't have much in the way of anything. Barely enough for us to survive much longer actually.

We're running low on food and medicine...

And still don't have bed I might add!

But I'm optimistic that things will start to pick up soon. We have some plants growing and what we had originally planned halfway dug out. Though, we really should have built beds today, my back is starting to really hurt... I can't image what Bull must feel like.

Played some Horse Shoes with Min before bed today, the kid beat me by a landslide. While we were playing, she insisted that the first room we dug out be dedicated to research and crafting. She said it was so we can figure out how to harness the power from the geyser that's nearby, but I'm pretty sure she just wants Omeed to make her some new clothes. Though, I can't argue against using the geyser being a good idea.

--

Min woke me up borderline violently this morning, six in the morning to be precise, yelling something about naming our colony. I can't remember what she suggested, mostly because I was still half sleep and she was flipping between English and Korean so quickly I couldn't follow most of what she was saying. We eventually settled on Aura, after the ship we all came from.

While working on the base we heard some angry squeaking from our garden area, apparently our being their had angered a rat so much that it decided to set out to kill all of us. I went out to kill the thing before anyone got hurt...and ended up having the rodent sneak attack me.

Min was nice enough to drop what she was doing and build me a bed so I could rest and clean myself up. The damn furry demon actually launched itself at my face, as well as tried to claw its way up both my legs, probably to attack my face again.

I woke up a good five hours later to find that the room I was resting in (a room that would later be turned into a prison cell once we got a door built), was completely dug out and Min had finished walling in the solar panels as well as built a sculpture table, not that I think that's something we should really be worried about right now, but making this place look prettier couldn't hurt for moral. Unfortunately sleeping half the day away yesterday has seriously messed up my sleep schedule... I ended up falling asleep outside a couple hours later, and this time when we woke up we had a new person in our camp, a 23 year old who goes by the name Blevins.

Must be her last name.

Yet another young person “incapable” of dumb labour. At least she seems to like digging at rock an awful lot, hopefully that means we'll get our colony dug out faster, though that does mean we need to plan another bedroom.

Blevins actually helped get a lot of work done today, her and Min walled in nearly the whole back section of the fort and the half the area where the geyser was found, now we just need to figure out how to use the steam power from it... I have a feeling that we're going to need a better research station for that though.

--

The mood around camp is quickly dropping... crashing I think is a better term. Everyone is tired of sleeping on the ground, and they're tired of eating raw food. In an attempt to try to lift everyone's moods, I suggested we all play Horse Shoes. That seemed to help for a bit... that is, until some crazy chick with a club started attacking Min's monkey.

Bull, Omeed and I dropped our horse shoes and ran through the base to the back as quickly as we could. Followed behind us, despite not having a weapon and it being very dangerous. She was determined to try to save her monkey, it was too late though and by the time we got there, Min's cat had been bludgeoned unconscious and left for dead by the crazy shirtless woman with the club.

The woman had squeezed through a small that had been left unfinished in the back wall and was heading for our crops! Omeed cut her off quickly though, actually, it was a little scary how much joy he seemed to get from repeatedly stabbing that woman.

Needless to say, she's dead now.

Omeed has a couple of bruises, but nothing serious... actually I think his hunger might be cause him more pain than his head.

Min rescued her cat and its now resting in its spot in the crafting room.

Min won't stop crying. She cred herself to sleep tonight. I think there's going to be a lot more nights like this coming up, not just for Min, but for everyone.
